Explore Maryland || Jarrettsville

This post will be short and sweet, and to the point. If you ever find yourself in Harford County, these are some great must-see places that are right underneath your noses. I found a hidden gem.

Ladew Gardens

Located right off of Jarrettsville Pike lies a magical land with 23 unique gardens, exotic flowers, beautifully sculpted bush art, windmills, butterflies, and more. I found this a very therapeutic way to spend my afternoon with great scenic views and plenty of oxygen.

The gardens line the outskirts of the facility through a path, one leading right into the next. They are open year round, so the plants, leaves, and flowers are ever changing with the seasons. I went during the fall, so there weren’t many flowers out, but the fall foliage was breath taking!

Rocks State Park — King and Queen Seat

Stoner’s paradise here, people. I have been coming to this spot to get out of my head since highschool. If you’re feeling lazy, there is an access road off of St. Clair Bridge Rd that will take you right to the summit. However, when I visit, I enjoy putting in the work and hiking to the top. A very poorly labeled trailhead is located off of Rocks Chrome Hill Rd right across the street from the parks office. The trail splits into two small trails shortly after you begin. Take the trail that leads to the right. This will take you right to the top. For those who would like to take the long way around, the White Trail here is a loop that also brings you to the summit eventually.

The King and Queen Seat allows for a beautiful scenic view of the woods in Jarrettsville. Please be careful here though, folks. Many people have fallen from the summit every year, and PLEASE do not climb the rocks. This is the easiest way to get hurt.

All-in-all, for many of my followers, these places are very close to home. But if you ever need a break from the hustle and bustle of every day life and want to connect with nature, this is a great way to start.

I will be posting about my trip to Colorado next week! Keep your eyes peeled! Also, friendly reminder that if you are looking to do some christmas shopping anytime soon, there are discount codes linked at the top right hand side of this page!
