Terms of Use

Retrace These Steps is a travel blog with content that is constantly changing. The content of this blog is my UNPROFESSIONAL written opinion/ experience and does not reflect the opinion of any affiliated organizations. All content unless otherwise stated has been written/photographed by yours truly. I work hard on these posts, and on my photography, so pretty please do not copy my content without permission from me without giving credit where it is due. If you choose to discuss any content provided on this blog, you must acknowledge Retrace These Steps as the author of this information and provide a link to the original source. The information provided in this blog is true and accurate to the best of my knowledge, however I am only human and nobody is perfect (so please be sure to let me know if you see something I missed). Might I remind you that the information provided here is FYE and for informational purpose only. Therefore you may choose to read and pursue at your own risk!

From time to time I will feature content that is sponsored, meaning that this blog accepts compensation in the form of paid posts, giveaways, reviews, and other forms of affiliate marketing (i.e. affiliate links). Any posts that contain this type of content will include a clearly marked, written disclaimer prior to the first paragraph. I will point out that I only promote content that I actually use/have tried and truly recommend to my audience.

In addition to sponsored content, this blog also utilizes Google Adsense, Media.net, and Info Links. I cannot stress enough, that I do not control the material promoted in these ads. These companies try their best to promote content related to my blog’s niche, but sometimes (because we all know technology isn’t perfect either), they get things wrong. Don’t shoot the messenger.

On the left sidebar of my page there is a section for my audience (that’s you), so subscribe to updates on my blog. In the even that you do this, you agree to receive e-mails every time I send out an update, giveaway alert, or new post alert. If at any time you get really tired of receiving these e-mails (although I promise never to spam your inbox), you can always unsubscribe. I will never share your e-mail address with a third party or organization. They are for my eyes only! Let’s say you really want to receive these e-mails, but you enter your e-mail address incorrectly, I am not responsible for your inability to receive these newsletters. (Try again).  If you DO decide that I am incredibly annoying and never stop talking and hit that unsubscribe button, you are actively acknowledging that you will no longer receive these updates from Retrace These Steps.

This site collects any information you provide to us directly (for example subscribing via email to the newsletter, participate/enter a giveaway, like/share/follow on any form of social media affiliated with Retrace These Steps, comment on posts, or communicate with Retrace These Steps in some form or another). For my records and for the sole purpose of working with some affiliate companies, I do keep logs of page views, links clicked, time of day you viewed my site, IP address, etc. This includes the properties of your mobile device, when viewing via mobile phone, tablet, iPad, etc. Some of the methods in which Retrace These Steps collects this information is through cookies. Not sure what that means? Keep on readin’.

Retrace These Steps uses cookies, files that are stored in your web browser when you visit a certain site or link. These files allow Retrace These Steps, or any of our affiliate companies/third party organizations to recognize our returning viewers and help us to find areas in which we can improve in order to make your experience better. I like to see what my audience pays close attention to (do you like some areas of content better than others? Do you actually care about this vs. that, etc.) and therefore this site uses a type of cookie called an analytical or performance cookie. This type of cookie shows me what pages on my site you spent the most time on, where you went after this, and so on. In addition, we also use fundamental cookies, which allow us to recognize you when you return. Now when I say that sometimes these cookies are used when working with affiliate companies, this is where your link clicks come into play. Retrace These Steps utilizes targeting cookies to see which links you clicked through on our site and then use this information to display ads that may be more of interest to you! Some closely related cookies to these targeting cookies are third party. These are used for WordPress (my site’s main host), Google Adsense, Info Links, Amazon Affiliates LLC, ShareASale, and Media.net  If this is something that you just can’t get down with, there are options in your web browser to block these cookies. No harm, no foul.

So with that being said, we’ll revisit the topic of information sharing. We already promised you that we won’t share your e-mail with any third parties. That one’s a given. But there are times in which we will share some of this information obtained from cookies to third parties in order to target your specific interests to once again, make this a better experience for you! If you choose to comment, share, or like posts, any information you provide to this section will be visible to the public. Finally, let’s say you found something within my content to be of great value you to and you want to go and give me a really great review (encouraged), I may share your information to others in the form of positive audience feedback when discussing my value to working with other third parties, etc. BUT ONLY WITH YOUR PERMISSION.

I am the sole content creator, editor, and run this blog by myself. Therefore in some of my posts, I refer to myself as “I”, but sometimes use the terms we, us, our, etc. Any and all of these terms refer back to Retrace These Steps as a whole. The words you, your, audience, etc. all relates to my viewers.

The sole purpose of this site is to educate our viewers on travel tips, provide potential itineraries (to be used at your own risk), fashion tips, and other various lifestyle related material.  Anything written or posted within this site adhere to these terms and conditions.

This site allows for the audience to comment on content posts, and all comments left are visible to the public. Anyone who uses this site can and will see any information you provide when leaving a comment. If I feel like your comment was unhelpful, irrelevant, rude, annoying, or violates any of these terms, I can, and will remove it. If for some reason there is something on my site that violates copyright infringement laws, I promise to comply with any take down notices.

This site contains articles written by Retrace These Steps that sometimes contain outbound links. If you choose to click these links, once you leave the site, you are no longer liable to follow these terms, and also, I have nothing to do with what happens to you from there on out.
