    Stephens Gap Cave, Northern Alabama

    Prior to my family vacation this summer in Northern Alabama, I had no clue how many cavernous regions there were in the state of Alabama. After some extensive research on the area, I came across Stephens Gap Cave, and I am quite thankful that I did. Stephens Gap Cave is one of the only vertical caves in the state of Alabama, and one of its most unique qualities is that the bottom of the cave is completely accessible by foot. This cave is open to hikers, cavers, and adventure travel enthusiasts alike thanks to the Southeastern Cave Conservancy, a 501(c)3 non profit, who work to protect and conserve these sites…

    Cheaha State Park || Hiking Mt. Cheaha

    Over the next few weeks I will be posting some of my experiences and day trips from my family’s summer vacation this June of 2019. It’s taken me a bit of time to find the motivation, time, and courage to start documenting these trips. As most of my close friends and family know, this trip was the last week I got to spend with my dad who passed away earlier this week on June 26, 2019. My father was one of my strongest supporters, and constantly encouraging me to travel to new areas nearby, giving me ideas, reading my posts, and giving me feedback, always happy to share his opinions…

    Explore Alabama || Prattville and Montgomery

    Sitting about 3 hours north of Fairhope, AL lies the neighboring cities Prattville and Montgomery. Montgomery, a larger metropolitan city-like region, and Prattville, a quaint little town which actually reminded me a lot of Fairhope. If we’re being honest, the overall outcome of my visit to these two places was not the most titillating for the three hour drive, but I did get to feed a giraffe so I guess I won’t complain. Anyway, if you ever find yourself in Prattville, AL or Montgomery, AL and are looking for some things to do, things to see, or places to go, here are my favorites.  Prattville Wilderness Park800 Upper Kingston Rd.…

    Explore Alabama || Dauphin Island

    A weekend well spent. Dauphin Island is about a 1.5 hour drive from where I currently live (about 40 minutes West of Mobile). And although it’s close enough for a day trip, I would totally vacation here. Whatever your plans may be for this area however, this is what I found interesting about the island. I went early so that I could grab brunch at a cute little breakfast hut called Foxy’s Waffle Bar and Sugar Den. If you plan to go here, better make it there on a nice day because it operates like a snowball hut. There is no indoor seating, which of course I didn’t mind because,…

    Explore Alabama || Mobile

    I’m divided on this one. I’m not sure if this is because I had grown to love the city of Baltimore so much during the time I lived there, because Downtown Pensacola (40 minutes in the OTHER direction) reminds me so much of Baltimore that I can’t help but love it too, or if Mobile really just isn’t that great. I’ll be honest with you though, I wasn’t very impressed. So, Mobile is about 40 minutes from where I live in Fairhope. It’s a very small city, and the only street I found worthwhile was Dauphin St. This is one of the main strips in Downtown, Mobile. Here you’ll find…

    Explore Alabama || Spanish Fort, Daphne, and Fairhope

    I’m back y’all! *moves to the south for 4 months* The drought is officially over and I’ve caught the travel bug worse than ever. I’ve made some big changes over the last 4 months. During the end of November, I made a move across the country from Maryland to Alabama. I lost some friends along the way and made some new ones. I’ve learned quite a bit about myself during the process, and most importantly, I’m once again close to my family with miles and miles of new territory to explore. It took me a bit to get myself settled and back on the train, but here I am, and…

    Explore Alabama: Baldwin County

    If you’re looking for a taste of all things southern, beautiful cerulean gulf waters, country side views, and a taste of urban city, Baldwin County Alabama is the perfect destination to indulge in all of the above. I came here on a solo weekend trip after my trip to Bryson City, NC was cancelled thanks to Hurricane Flo, and to be honest I could not be more grateful. The weather was a steady 90 F all weekend long, with hardly any rain. I was able to find a condo for less than $50.00 a night RIGHT on the gulf coast, so I highly recommend going during mid-September as the weather…
