Explore Nevada || Vegas Baby, Vegas!
This trip was the perfect amount of glam and grit, and perfectly planned and guided by none other than Explorer Chick travel company. My second trip with this group, and I have yet to be even SOMEWHAT disappointed. As a result, however, I cannot take credit for any of the planning that went into this trip, but I can share my experience, and hope that some of you will be encouraged to take your own trips out to beautiful Nevada, or book a different trip with Explorer Chick (sorry boys, gals only). They’re all very well coordinated, planned, accommodated, AND hella affordable; to the point where I’ve got to stare…

Explore Alabama || Dauphin Island
A weekend well spent. Dauphin Island is about a 1.5 hour drive from where I currently live (about 40 minutes West of Mobile). And although it’s close enough for a day trip, I would totally vacation here. Whatever your plans may be for this area however, this is what I found interesting about the island. I went early so that I could grab brunch at a cute little breakfast hut called Foxy’s Waffle Bar and Sugar Den. If you plan to go here, better make it there on a nice day because it operates like a snowball hut. There is no indoor seating, which of course I didn’t mind because,…

Explore Alabama || Mobile
I’m divided on this one. I’m not sure if this is because I had grown to love the city of Baltimore so much during the time I lived there, because Downtown Pensacola (40 minutes in the OTHER direction) reminds me so much of Baltimore that I can’t help but love it too, or if Mobile really just isn’t that great. I’ll be honest with you though, I wasn’t very impressed. So, Mobile is about 40 minutes from where I live in Fairhope. It’s a very small city, and the only street I found worthwhile was Dauphin St. This is one of the main strips in Downtown, Mobile. Here you’ll find…

Explore Alabama || Spanish Fort, Daphne, and Fairhope
I’m back y’all! *moves to the south for 4 months* The drought is officially over and I’ve caught the travel bug worse than ever. I’ve made some big changes over the last 4 months. During the end of November, I made a move across the country from Maryland to Alabama. I lost some friends along the way and made some new ones. I’ve learned quite a bit about myself during the process, and most importantly, I’m once again close to my family with miles and miles of new territory to explore. It took me a bit to get myself settled and back on the train, but here I am, and…

Explore Colorado || From East to West
Here’s a cliche; Colorado stole my heart. I have said for years and years that I would never live, nor visit Colorado because it was just too cold. However, in my current mission to visit all 50 states, Colorado was going to have to happen sooner or later, and google told me November was a great time to go (lies) so it happened sooner. Fact: Colorado was cold, but I had no time to think about the temperature because the entire state is just absolutely breath taking. EVERY route is the scenic route. Another fact: November was NOT the greatest time to visit. Why? Because nearly every site I wanted…

Explore Maryland || Jarrettsville
This post will be short and sweet, and to the point. If you ever find yourself in Harford County, these are some great must-see places that are right underneath your noses. I found a hidden gem. Ladew Gardens Located right off of Jarrettsville Pike lies a magical land with 23 unique gardens, exotic flowers, beautifully sculpted bush art, windmills, butterflies, and more. I found this a very therapeutic way to spend my afternoon with great scenic views and plenty of oxygen. The gardens line the outskirts of the facility through a path, one leading right into the next. They are open year round, so the plants, leaves,…

Explore Virginia || Catawba and The Appalachian Trail
Hello world! Now that I have returned from the unplugged and re-entered normal, every day life I can finally share the details of one of the most breathtaking and life-changing trips I have ever taken. Let me simply start by saying that I will be splitting this trip into two separate posts; the first covering highlights and the trip itself, and the second covering some of the most dire life saving tips I have ever received. So my 4.5 hour drive to Virginia quickly turned into 6. It monsooned the ENTIRE way there. During these 6 hours I learned 3 very incredible things: 1) My car is totally capable…

Things To Do During the Fall
As much as I am an advocate for warm weather, bathing suits, and going barefoot, I have to admit that fall has to be one of my favorite seasons. There’s just something about the leaves changing colors, apple cider, window weather, boots, and scarves that puts me right in the festive mood. So naturally, I am now going to ramble about some of my favorite fall activities. (And hey, if you don’t live in Maryland, odds are similar places exist near you as well, so use these ideas to put together your own perfect fall day itinerary!) 1. Apple Picking Admittedly, this year was the first time I went…
